Look at this Pink Frilly Border

Here is the very same border on June 5.

Isn't the difference amazing?

I see it every year, and still I am amazed at the change 6 weeks can make.

Update: 9:00 a.m.

This border was a bit battered after the one hour of rain we got last night.

So this morning I cut most of the mallow down.
This border is just CRAMMED with plants growing on top of each other. It's survival of the fittest in this border. I do very little to interfere (i.e. I do almost NO work - just let it fend for itself)

Even after cutting down the mallow you can see that it is still full.

  1. Zoey - I can't believe how many of your posts I've missed in the past week whilst we've been so busy. All I can say is that your flowers are so beautiful and your gardens so inspiring. The colour and the background greens are superb. Thank you so much for taking me on a walk around such a delightful garden. You can also get Amaranthus in more varied colours - they're rather like a huge variety of coleus.

I hope your eye is completely better now.

Yes, I've been posting like crazy lately! I am not at a loss for blog fodder this time of the year. LOL.

  3. Wow that sure is a difference with that border! Both times it looked gorgeous:-)You did a good clean up job with the mallow...my evening primrose are almost all done now and I have tons of their petals everywhere...I should go clean all that up today but it's only almost 10 a.m. and already in the 80's so it's gonna be another hot one today!

  4. Good morning, Pea.
It's going to be a HOT one here, too. I think around 95....my outside work is pretty much over for today.

  5. I think the best type of borders are the ones that fend for themselves. There always seems to be cleanup work to do, though, no matter what.
