Family Picnic

Every year we have a little family picnic with DH's family. We go to a very small little town about 30 miles away.
We pass this quaint little church way out in the sticks.

When we went by yesterday, they were having their own little church picnic.

I cropped that out to protect their privacy.

Isn't it just the cutest little church?

So different from the big conglomerates of today.

Here's the little spot where we cook and eat.

We had perfect weather yesterday for an enjoyable afternoon with the inlaws.

I am very lucky in that I have wonderful inlaws (NO, none of them read this so I am not just saying that :) )

  2. All of our little country churches look similar to this one...and there must be one every 5-10 miles. We usually stop and rest at these during our cycle rides. They are very quaint and the people who attend these small churches are down home friendly.

  3. Oh, was the picnic near a lake? Pretty setting. I think it's nice they do this each year.
I actually love to take photos of quaint churches and have a folder in my yahoo pictures for them. I saw a few as we drove by in Delaware and was sorry I didn't have my camera out or that the driver didn't slow down so I could take a photo!

  4. Hmm, blogger is being beasty again!
That is a beautiful little church and I love your picnic site. Looks like it was a perfect day and a lovely setting.
I've been writing a bit about my husbands family lately too. There is no one left to read it, but I'm still glad for having had the relationship...

  6. Sissy, Yes,it was an incredible blue, wasn't it?

AIP, How long are your cycle rides? Many, many years ago I rode on the back of a Harley for 5 hours (to Detroit) on a cold October day. I was glad to be the passenger because the body ahead of me blocked the wind.

Dianne, yes, there was a lake. You can see it in the background.

Sue, I've been reading your lovely writings about your inlaws. I bet they felt just as loving toward you.

    Pat, Me,too. :)

  7. That's a very similar size and shape to our old country churches, but almost all of ours are made of stone or brick. (Or maybe those are the only ones still around?) I've been to a couple of weddings in churches like that, and they are so different from city ones.

Love the location of your family picnic. Reminds me of a place we used to go on Lake Ontario when I was a kid.

  8. What a beautiful little church...there's one in a similar setting not too far from here and I often pass it when I'm travelling but have never taken a picture of it. Will have to stop next time! Lovely spot for your family picnic too and I can see from the sky that you had perfect weather!
