<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1F_iHCfcTd7MRyL1g8cmBYhpuaVL3caJWoXiZiHuk_CrwSLFcIehYkgrGquU7InpsBpfAoIFrd7U8iuHXByPcsxsR9p9FqAMke6AU8-4Ut063Nox8jK7uQfOo9knZeiJzKrwtvWY1zExWOPLEe_RmcHrMp-OuYfi5r6J41mnHnzltOB1awa6m0A/s1292/carrots%20sewing%20111223.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; clear: left; float: left;"><img alt="" border="0" width="320" data-original-height="1032" data-original-width="1292" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1F_iHCfcTd7MRyL1g8cmBYhpuaVL3caJWoXiZiHuk_CrwSLFcIehYkgrGquU7InpsBpfAoIFrd7U8iuHXByPcsxsR9p9FqAMke6AU8-4Ut063Nox8jK7uQfOo9knZeiJzKrwtvWY1zExWOPLEe_RmcHrMp-OuYfi5r6J41mnHnzltOB1awa6m0A/s320/carrots%20sewing%20111223.jpg"/></a></div>
I put them on top of my largest hutch with a few wooden bunnies that my late uncle made.

I added a few real eggs that I decorated at least 25 years ago. It amazes me that they have lasted this long. I break a few each year, but luckily I made dozens of them.

I made lots of bunnies that I have scattered around.

This year I bought some new pillow covers and I thrifted that cake stand a few ago. It worked perfectly for the bunny vignette.

Even though I am not hosting an Easter event, I have still been enjoying these two rooms for the past weeks. I just do it for Hubs and myself and now to share with anyone who stumbles across my blog.

This year I finally did!

I also did a lot of dining room decorating.

From the road view, you can see another Spirea that moved last fall. It's doing great! The center shrub looks golden now, but it is actually a Burning Bush which will turn bright red in the fall. I have a number of burning bushes.

I also have 4 Limelight hydrangea shrubs, 3 of which I moved last fall from other areas of my yard. They, too, are doing great. I cannot wait until they are all in bloom!

There are two of the Limelight hydrangeas in this photo. The Queen Alexander poppies are blooming under one that was moved last fall.
I am so pleased with all of the shrubs that I started moving into my garden about 8 years ago. I was unhappy with how the perennials looked good for a week or two and then they died and made the entire garden look bland and dull until the next plants came into bloom. The shrubs provide some needed constant structure.
I don't know if anyone is still following me here from the old days when I blogged all the time. If anyone is still here, I would like to say "Thank you" for following me all these years! Please leave a comment so I know you are still checking in now and then. Hope you get some enjoyment from my garden pics. You may notice that there has been a lot of change. Just last year we had 33 huge pine trees removed which takes me from almost complete shade on the far border to nearly full sun now! I believe we have had at least 70 big pine trees removed since I began gardening here 34 years ago.Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-15422328559277467222022-06-11T14:47:00.001-04:002024-01-21T17:38:02.558-05:00Is there anything better than a perennial garden in spring?<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyEvBemn8zQId3fJMccPewv57KKK9XMmu1uwd-ux-kIFLXVZjLD-3fTkRrZiPSGXv0ja_dC0Xpo8I5eRBEe_gu4J_lovrP1dDNA1d4ss5KLLmt_DxA2TF0rw1ZNm10R7WIDQmKPqMfafH3JI84UGPGsY9ZoQ4eh1-OqzPY2UvwDqpelMD-ArA/s1632/061122%20iris%20under%20limelight.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyEvBemn8zQId3fJMccPewv57KKK9XMmu1uwd-ux-kIFLXVZjLD-3fTkRrZiPSGXv0ja_dC0Xpo8I5eRBEe_gu4J_lovrP1dDNA1d4ss5KLLmt_DxA2TF0rw1ZNm10R7WIDQmKPqMfafH3JI84UGPGsY9ZoQ4eh1-OqzPY2UvwDqpelMD-ArA/s600/061122%20iris%20under%20limelight.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoUzc7WMHI7XbZyOCuw0FUKzKQQlQ82dtnJb9jTg5ZBUqTi-PjI0sxpC_L-vUQGK8C5t8Orj2h8R_PyubY_UOP7mHjbx-L23ip6IqQyF8DswnROLdwN0A_DTzSsQZPbLuajOQg9Top2Au7RpNST4HBYMybhGKSCl5tjUJ0OWQ_YGFD1GJ3W8I/s1632/061122%20goatsbeard%20to%20new%20arbor.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoUzc7WMHI7XbZyOCuw0FUKzKQQlQ82dtnJb9jTg5ZBUqTi-PjI0sxpC_L-vUQGK8C5t8Orj2h8R_PyubY_UOP7mHjbx-L23ip6IqQyF8DswnROLdwN0A_DTzSsQZPbLuajOQg9Top2Au7RpNST4HBYMybhGKSCl5tjUJ0OWQ_YGFD1GJ3W8I/s600/061122%20goatsbeard%20to%20new%20arbor.jpg"/></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaA-4H6lrNj-G4I2yGKOn0CNW5LeyPIzMXm3qsB6DBm84EY38svzpqYfnAyPsGZVPBsLNFSSbJVqylb_YT5yHCeEEC1mJCgE7qo26EQa7Om5z1B_lidTRBm98W2W5T6C_p5dEpwVCuTIw3HyBNZt4UPN0b8vtbvpZlrOBrXMQECP_1cCT5QXM/s1632/061122%20mopheads%20to%20woodland1.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaA-4H6lrNj-G4I2yGKOn0CNW5LeyPIzMXm3qsB6DBm84EY38svzpqYfnAyPsGZVPBsLNFSSbJVqylb_YT5yHCeEEC1mJCgE7qo26EQa7Om5z1B_lidTRBm98W2W5T6C_p5dEpwVCuTIw3HyBNZt4UPN0b8vtbvpZlrOBrXMQECP_1cCT5QXM/s600/061122%20mopheads%20to%20woodland1.jpg"/></a></div>Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-78262633034868523842022-05-21T13:39:00.001-04:002022-05-21T13:39:50.301-04:00Loving My New Garden BootsWhat a difference new gardening boots make after wearing Crocs for a decadeāno more dirty feet!<div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOfKphtJF3EjogYpX2nrV1QT_XfFXLbUnaoIh45RC7Xgl6LFwWJppXsYuSeYESnvgv48Lh-e9QCYctlIt6kt6VJMXaSce_E7_Tw0y0l4DxLP15pxlNdqqNcgFhU5ibStH6DJPuH506aHiYv2EaIH3vc4AiW95jyVO2nbNOc8mM9renUKhQ9Fc/s1632/05212022%20new%20hisea%20garden%20boots.jpg" style="display: block; padding: 1em 0; text-align: center; "><img alt="" border="0" width="600" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOfKphtJF3EjogYpX2nrV1QT_XfFXLbUnaoIh45RC7Xgl6LFwWJppXsYuSeYESnvgv48Lh-e9QCYctlIt6kt6VJMXaSce_E7_Tw0y0l4DxLP15pxlNdqqNcgFhU5ibStH6DJPuH506aHiYv2EaIH3vc4AiW95jyVO2nbNOc8mM9renUKhQ9Fc/s600/05212022%20new%20hisea%20garden%20boots.jpg"/></a></div>

I took a few pics to remember the abundance of rudebeckia and limelight hydrangeas. I hope they all return next year.

The humming bird's favorite is the tall one in the back, which is a salvia.

In this container I have it growing with the larger ball dahlia called Jowey Martina. I am enjoying this delicate color combo.

All three look like they have survived and will bloom despite my risky action. I would not recommend doing as I did. It's not a good idea to move established shrubs in high 80 degree weather either. Smart gardeners would not temp fate. I kept mine well watered. They wilted quite a bit...especially the one I moved last week. It is just now starting to look like it will survive.</p>Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-29608835470695671392021-07-26T08:53:00.000-04:002021-07-26T08:53:13.103-04:00Red Geranium Wall Planter with Red Border Dahlias below<p> I have saved this container of red geraniums in my basement for the past five years. Last fall I decided that I should underplant my garage container with something that would carry on the lovely red color. I decided to order some Red Carpet Border Dahlias from Brecks. If memory serves me right, this guy is about 8 years old and has never been cut back. I purchased this from Breck's in 2019. It was part of a group package of 6 iris. Unfortunately 4 of the 6 died off before I ever got to see the bloom. I waited two seasons before contacting Breck's for a refund as I know iris often do not bloom the first year. I just emailed them today, so will see if they send a refund or replacements for the 4 that croaked . They have always been very good about standing behind their product.</p><p><br /></p><p>Love, love this Blue Oat Grass with the blue orbs (bowling balls) and the Speedwell Sunny Border Blue ( which is actually purple). This year is no exception.</p><p>I've had these old purple iris for over two decades. They never disappoint me.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q_miyBvwr-g/YLu_9Z_w96I/AAAAAAAAZN8/rpaZ-G70L9wr0TQeeXqPFnhnrRv3cfJvACLcBGAsYHQ/s1632/06052021%2Bpurple%2Biris%2Broad%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Q_miyBvwr-g/YLu_9Z_w96I/AAAAAAAAZN8/rpaZ-G70L9wr0TQeeXqPFnhnrRv3cfJvACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/06052021%2Bpurple%2Biris%2Broad%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p>I also love the light purple of chive blooms. I have quite a few chive plants.</p><p><br /></p><p>Many gardeners look at this plant (sometimes called) spring phlox as a weed. I think it has its place when kept controlled and not allowed to over take the entire garden. I redid this area last fall and although I did not plant these, there must have been dormant seeds in the soil.. I decided they were perfect for now.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kwGLZgRaAVU/YLvAkvELkeI/AAAAAAAAZOE/-4UdFoMKkB8gXtg5x6Hsz5JYqqO9gWZ_gCLcBGAsYHQ/s1632/06052021%2Bspring%2Bphlox.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kwGLZgRaAVU/YLvAkvELkeI/AAAAAAAAZOE/-4UdFoMKkB8gXtg5x6Hsz5JYqqO9gWZ_gCLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480/06052021%2Bspring%2Bphlox.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><br /><p>This Miss Kim lilac has only bloomed for me once (I have had it many years). I will never get to the end, but I am feeling pretty good about what I've accomplished. I just wish it would rain. We are in drought status right now with a 95 degree temperature (unusually HOT for lower northern Michigan this time of the year). With temps like that I felt it was a good day to be inside trying to figure out how to make a post. It seems like Blogger changes every time I decide to make one.</p><p><br /></p><p>I bought some very unusual container plants for the deck this year. I love containers that are different, so when I saw these I grabbed them! After the first rain when it has blooms it looks like this:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-quGDVdLBChs/X0F1oO7j1dI/AAAAAAAAZBU/9VZ29VxFPpIpPMnJsn0qt0EH4dyQQ_XHACLcBGAsYHQ/s1632/hydrangea%2Blittle%2Blamb%2Bflopped%2Bafter%2Brain%2B3%2Byrs%2Bold.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" height="750" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-quGDVdLBChs/X0F1oO7j1dI/AAAAAAAAZBU/9VZ29VxFPpIpPMnJsn0qt0EH4dyQQ_XHACLcBGAsYHQ/w1000-h750/hydrangea%2Blittle%2Blamb%2Bflopped%2Bafter%2Brain%2B3%2Byrs%2Bold.jpg" width="1000" /></a></div><p>This happens every year. The petite dahlia is called Pulp Fiction. It only gets 10 to 12 inches tall. I love the fiery red flowers with the dark foliage. The huge green leaves are calla lilies. They are yellow and have already finished their bloom. I love that the green leaves last for weeks after the flower fades.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's a close up of Pulp Fiction (I got it from Breck's):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UBgsgueGbsM/XzgmLpq1n7I/AAAAAAAAZBA/vyjvTtgPEjAZcyJOlASZA10SJ9teB879ACLcBGAsYHQ/s1632/08132020%2Bpulp%2Bfiction%2Bdahlia%2Bclose%2Bup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UBgsgueGbsM/XzgmLpq1n7I/AAAAAAAAZBA/vyjvTtgPEjAZcyJOlASZA10SJ9teB879ACLcBGAsYHQ/s640/08132020%2Bpulp%2Bfiction%2Bdahlia%2Bclose%2Bup.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I changed the bicycle centerpiece to something very neat and tidy:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNvO6ItrZEc/XzgmYxyOjQI/AAAAAAAAZBE/drtn5EYhc9UK9qFrwJJDegAycFDA2KVUgCLcBGAsYHQ/s1535/08132020%2Bbicycle%2Bflower%2Bcontainer%2Bredone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1151" data-original-width="1535" height="750" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZNvO6ItrZEc/XzgmYxyOjQI/AAAAAAAAZBE/drtn5EYhc9UK9qFrwJJDegAycFDA2KVUgCLcBGAsYHQ/w1000-h750/08132020%2Bbicycle%2Bflower%2Bcontainer%2Bredone.jpg" width="1000" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Stems of Sedum Autumn Joy still in their green stage and balls of golden marigolds. I added a little sprigs of the blooms from my Japanese Bottlebrush shrub. This should look good for at least a week before the marigolds dry up. The sedum will probably be fine for much longer.</div><p></p>Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-68431752060722142472020-08-10T17:40:00.004-04:002020-08-15T14:30:22.867-04:00 A Few Shots of my Limelight Hydrangea in the Main garden<p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>I believe that I planted this Limelight seven years ago.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-02x4LMVNtF8/XzG87iIzvsI/AAAAAAAAZAQ/gbEFjwc88WgBzz_0lSUB7LNqMpklHV5eACLcBGAsYHQ/s1552/08102020%2Bhydrangea%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1552" height="505" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-02x4LMVNtF8/XzG87iIzvsI/AAAAAAAAZAQ/gbEFjwc88WgBzz_0lSUB7LNqMpklHV5eACLcBGAsYHQ/w640-h505/08102020%2Bhydrangea%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><p><br /></p><p>Here is the view a few feet further back.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a_8Qsy4qECA/XzG9kWAELUI/AAAAAAAAZAY/nUoRSqgpeFs3fa2NxCnn8EVhR8U9zOOlwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1632/08102020%2Bspeedwell%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1224" data-original-width="1632" height="384" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a_8Qsy4qECA/XzG9kWAELUI/AAAAAAAAZAY/nUoRSqgpeFs3fa2NxCnn8EVhR8U9zOOlwCLcBGAsYHQ/w512-h384/08102020%2Bspeedwell%2Bto%2Barbor.jpg" width="512" /></a></div><p>I think the speedwell in front is 'Sunny Border Blue", but I cannot remember for sure. I removed an aggressive perennial behind the speedwell and have not yet found anything to substitute. I am leaning towards a big patch of pink coneflowers. The tall poofy purple plant is phlox.</p>Diana LaMarrehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.com0
