Tray Transformation

I've grown quite tired of looking at this sponge-painted tray that sits next to my stove holding my utensil jug, salt/pepper, oil, and a few other condiments.
This past weekend I decided to give it a bit of a facelift.

I thought I'd paint it black, but I couldn't find any black paint.

One thing I do have plenty of is fabric. I decided I'd cover it with fabric and a few coats of Modge Podge.

It's quite easy to do. Just cut the fabric to the size needed. I folded under my top edge to give a neater appearance. The Modge Podge is really just a glue and it holds the fabric as well as becomes the protective coating. I just use gloves and my fingers to apply the modge podge. It's white when it goes on, but it dries clear. I gave it two coats.
Here's the finished tray.

I like it a lot better now.

  5. Recycling is awesome! The tray looks great. I didn't know Mod Podge was waterproof as I only use it with paper. Good to know.
