It all started when I took everything out of this china cabinet to clean the inside. Then I thought,as long as everything is out of it, why not have DH help me pull it out so I can clean behind it.
As long as the top flower arrangement is down, I may as well take it all apart and clean it, too.
That involves a ton of work. I take every flower and swish it around in soapy water, rinse it off
then take everything outside to dry.
I did this with two huge arrangements, because as long as I was doing it, I may as well get the dining room arrangement, too....the dining room arrangement was stored in the garage since Christmas. It was full of dust.
It was no easy task to fit the container that goes over the kitchen china cabinet into the sink to clean it.
Yes, it's a big shoe. A VERY BIG shoe.
As I walked by the heat vent to get to the deck,
I remembered that I needed to take it off the wall and clean it. I had noticed a bunch of dust a few weeks ago. So as long as I had a bucket of cleaning water from the china cabinet, I may as well clean that, too.
So I grabbed my handy mini screwdriver and took it off the wall.
Then I hauled it off to the deck to clean it. I used a toothbrush to get all the dust out.
As long as I was doing one, I may as well take two more off and do them, too. So I did. Hey, look, my shoes match my gloves and my bucket. I'm one stylish cleaning lady! LOL.
As long as I had the vent cover off the wall, I may as well vacuum the dust out of the vent.
Before I knew it, I had worked through the whole day!It was too cold to work outside anyway...only low 50's and windy. I don't like to venture out until it's at least 65 degrees.
I did find this when I was taking the dining room floral arrangement down.
I had used it inside the basket for height. I don't even know what this is.
A vase?
Somewhere along the way I found time to throw this pizza lasagna together. It has ground beef, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, celery, different cheeses and pizza sauce.
I also baked some carrots and poured a little of this Michigan pure maple syrup over them. The lazagna is resting now. I hope it tastes good. I still have to make a lettuce/fruit salad with poppyseed dressing.
All in all, I had a very enjoyable day. I'm weird like that.
Let the Basting Begin!
-
I am using my dining room table to baste this big one -- it's about 105 x
105 inches (king size).
It's been a while since I've finished one this big.

Lol I can sooo relate...I don't know how many times I was just going to do one simple little job and end up doing a dozen other things! Your pizza lasagna looks delish...I have a pizza cooking in the oven right now! Was cool and windy here too today but the sun was shining:-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I am tired just reading about all the work you did today!! You deserve to put your feet up forthe rest of this evening.
ReplyDeleteI find myself cleaning like that too-but you really get down to the nitty gritty even taking the vent off the wall (not to say I've never done that). : )
ReplyDeleteYour green ceramic piece looks like it would be great for fruit.
It's good to get up high too. Short people like myself forget the tops of hutches, etc.
Would you like to come to Austin, Zoey? With your sharp eyes and energy, you only be in my house for 5 minutes until the snowball effect would have you stuck inside cleaning for a month ;-]
ReplyDeleteAnnie at the Transplantable Rose
Damn girl - do you rent yourself out??? My house could use a couple of days with someone with your energy! The pizza lasagna looks really good - thinking you should share the recipe maybe??
ReplyDeleteZoey, Zoey, Zoey....how many hours of sleep a night do you get? I've never seen anyone so busy! I've heard Martha Stewart only needs about 4 hours of sleep and that's how she has so much time to get a slew of things done. Is that your secret too?
ReplyDeleteHi Zoey,
ReplyDeleteI have just found your blog and had a good giggle, as I have just done a similar thing in my sewing room. Well Done!
Wow, Zoey, loved hearing/seeing the details of your over-productive day. Now you've got me thinking about my dirty vents and maple syrup on my carrots!
ReplyDeleteHi Pea, I hope your pizza was a delish as my pizza lasagna! DH really liked it.
ReplyDeleteLaurie & Chris, I can't waste my precious days off with my feet up! Unless, of course, I'm also quilting, which I did do a little bit of (about an hour).
Dianne, I thought the same about that dish. I just wonder what it really ia supposed to be! I think a vase bacause of that hole in the middle.
Annie in Austin, I'd love to come to Austin (in the winter). I've still got plenty of cleaning that could be done in my house--believe me! It never ends, does it?
Kris, I don't have a recipe for it. I just layered lasagna noodles and the other stuff I mentioned. One thing I do differently than most is that I DO NOT cook the lasagna noodles first. Saves a lot of work.
Lostroses, I've read the same thing about Martha. She fails to mention that the reason she gets so much done is all the hired help she has! I bet she was not scrubbing the kitchen floor on her knees like I was yesterday!
Annie #2, thanks for stopping by. I've already been over to visit you earlier this morning.
Sandra, the maple syrup was good on the carrots. It was the first time I tried that.
I'm a bit late here, but I can see you had a busy productive day! Your pizza lasagne looks yummy. Sometimes the best dishes are ones that are just kind of improvised!
ReplyDelete:)
I'm exhausted just reading the post. I can't believe you did all that in one day.
