There is not much happening in the gardens right now. The black-eyed Susans have started to open, but are not yet in full bloom. As with the majority of my flowers this year, they are smaller than normal. Here are two arbor views that I took at 7:45 pm tonight.

  1. Zoey the more I look at your blog the more I think you are garden crazy. Watering alone must take you hours. I think you are the Garden Queen of the blogging world.

  2. LOL, Sandy. Yes, watering can be a real pain. That is why I worship rainwater!

  3. lol I just got on here to ask about the watering when I saw all the containers.

Do you use any of those water retaining crystals in your soils? I've never used them but was curious as to what others thought of them.

  4. I am seriously considering them for my window boxes at my work garden next year. They are really expensive though.

  6. Kerry, I used the crystals two years ago, but did not find them to be any great help. I still had to water daily. They might be better in the larger containers, but in the small hanging baskets, there just is not enough soil to retain much water.

Taracotta, I had to chuckle when I read this as I JUST finished posting pic of my wilted flowers! Often many of the containers are wilted when I get home from work, but they perk back up within an hour or so of watering.
