By the way, Brecks sent me a coupon for $25 off with no strings attached. There is no minimum order. It says if your order is less than $25, you get it free. With an offer like that, I cant afford NOT to order these. The price is $31.99 for 20 bulbs. I get $25 off that amount. Yes, Zo, there IS a Santa Claus!

I'll have to check it out! That's a nice coupon.
ReplyDeleteAbout your question on my blog-I know some people who switch off of blogger to their own dot com. I'll have to ask how they saved their entire blog to transfer.
If you find out, Dianne, please let me know. For everyone else, the question is, "Can an entire blog be saved to a CD?" Dianne and I were discussing that it would be nice to have a hard copy to save for our gardening journal.
ReplyDeleteWHOA!!! NO FAIR! my coupon says I have to order $50 to use the coupon, thats before tax :(
ReplyDeleteI really dont like brecks, ive had terrible luck with them and htey are more expensive then other better (in my oppinion) companies. They arn't getting my buisness this year. I'm going with Dutch bulbs and Bluestone perenials.
This is to answer the saving your blog to a CD question: http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=130&query=backup&topic=0&type=f
ReplyDeleteAbout Brecks: I had to rescue my catalog from the trash after reading this post, because I feel pretty much the same as GGG does about Brecks. (But I did have the free coupon.) Brecks prices per bulb are not that great, and I don't think their quality is any better. I am more likely to go with McClure & Zimmerman, Brent and Becky's bulbs, VanDyck's, John Scheepers, or VanEngelen. A lot of these catalogs aren't as flashy, but they have a much greater selection and better per-bulb prices, though they often expect you to buy more of one kind. (VanDyck's is similar in selection to Brecks, but has better prices.)If I am looking for something really out of the ordinary, I look through Odyssey Bulbs or Old House Gardens. You should be able to find all these companies by Googling them, but if anyone can't I will gladly email the addy to them.
Thanks for that link, Kathy. I am going to check it out now.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, Kathy, that looks a little difficult....I will have to think about how much I want a back up to risk losing the whole blog.
ReplyDeleteIt did sound like a lot of work to me, too, but that was the only answer I could find. When my blog was hosted with blogger, I never did back it up. But then I switched to Moveable Type, and after importing into MT, I could use their export feature to back it up. And then I switched to WordPress . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat you could do is go to each month's archives in your browser and print it out. You would at least have a hard copy, even though it wouldn't be convenient to copy and paste into another document. Find some way to print it out on a laser printer, because that is much better for archiving than inkjet.
