Almost 50 degrees on January 4th. It's pretty amazing and very strange...
Personally, I like it even though I do find it a little scary. I just wonder what is really happening.
I got a complimentary issue of "Cuisine" magazine in the mail today. I quickly skimmed through and this parmesan basket caught my eye.
How cool is that? A salad served in a basket of melted cheese. Yum! I must have a little dinner get together so I can try this.
I finished my third bird block--the bald eagle.
This time I doubled the background fabric and it worked much better.
Making Miscellaneous Christmas Quilt Blocks

At the moment, I have no idea what will become of these quilt blocks I have
been making for the past couple of weeks. I guess they will remain in this
bin...

That looks good..
ReplyDeleteI really really like your birds maybe someday I'll be able to do something like that.
Speaking of this weather, I had a girl tell me she saw daffodils blooming in Louisville,Ky. on Dec. 31. That is just crazy. Makes you wonder what our spring will be like. My irises are about 8" tall.
Pat
All I can say is WOW!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to have my sister-in-law check out your blog! She's a quilter too!
The Chief Engineer at work told me he thought the hostas were poking up through the ground already! I think he must be mistaken and hope to remember to take a look tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteLinda, does she have a blog?
ReplyDeleteHi Zooey - it was only 61 in Austin today - watch out or you'll catch up with us!
ReplyDeleteEven for the non-quilter, watching you manipulate fabric and sew is interesting, and your energy amazes me! The scrap-wrapping paper bow was one craft from your blog that I actually managed to pull off. When my bows got compliments I told about your website.
Thank you for the encouraging comment for my YouTube. I appreciate it very much.
Annie at the Transplantable Rose
Annie, I am so happy to hear that you actually made the bow! You didn't happen to post a picture of your bow, did you?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the blog plugs, too.
It amazes me how many hits I received from people searching for "wrapping paper bows" since I made that post.
I also got a copy of Cuisine in the mail and haven't had a chance to flip through it yet.
ReplyDeleteYour birds are so nice-I can't wait to see what you do with them.
Read my post called 'An Inconvenient Truth'-this warm weather is global warming.
Yum! Those baskets look really good! So does all your hard work on your birds.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd eat it, especially if someone else made it for me! Looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteThere's an article in the paper today about the mild weather all across the country. Apparently El Nino and the jet stream are the main reasons for it. The head of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Center said that the weather is prone to short-term fluctuations and that the mild weather doesn't necessarily mean global warming. His advice: "Enjoy it while you have it"!
And keep on making bird quilt blocks!
A parmesan basket...what a delightful idea!! I was reading what it says at the bottom of the picture...I remember when I'd order chilli in a bread bowl...yummmm! I so love all your bird blocks, just gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteHard to believe you're warmer than us!
ReplyDeleteWe're quite wintery feeling!
The parm. bread bowls look delish..
