My sister came over Sunday afternoon and wanted to see my latest projects so I brought them all out into the family room. I didn't really realize that I have made six quilta in 2007! That's in addition to about 4 table runners and oodles of hot pads.
I think I have an addictive personality. When I get hooked---watch out!
The quilts are all in different states of completion. I just finished hand quilting the big green log cabin a few weeks ago (I began piecing it n 2006). It only needs a binding which I could finish in about three days if I set my mind to it. It was on my weekend list of things to do, but once I got sidetracked rearranging the living/dining rooms I had no time or energy left.
I really must stop making quilts until I finish these. It looks like a good two years of just quilting to get these finished!
I am getting hungry. I cooked this pork loin on Saturday.
It was really good with the fresh apples I sauteed in butter and brown sugar.
Tonight with very little effort, I have turned it into this colorful entree...
Sweet and sour pork.
Isn't it a pretty dish? I hope it tastes as good as it looks!

Ahhh..all those quilts,I think I need to learn to quilt! I usually say that when autumn rolls around.

Wow, I guess you were prolific this year! I only did three, and one of them is still is blocks. What do you do with all your quilts?
ReplyDeleteHi Betty, One of the nice things about quilting as a winter hobby is that it keeps you warm while you are doing it. I love to hand quilt while sitting in front of the TV all draped in that wonderfully toasty warm fabric!

Unfortunately I keep them ALL. That's whay I always make huge king size so they fit my bed. I just can't bear to give them away because I am afraid the person I give them to won't really like or appreciate all the work.
As strange as it seems to me, I do realize that not everyone likes quilts.
I'd just die if I parted with one and then saw it being used as a dog bed or a painting rag. I have heard other woman tell heartbreaking stories like that.
Anyway, I am running out of space for them all so that's why I must stop making so many!
Your quilts are so pretty - I think you have a great eye for putting them together! Would hot pads be a good starter project? I've always wanted to learn to quilt, but seems kind of overwhelming...

You sure were the quiltin' mama this year! I think when you are showing people your works and progress, it's a great motivator. I do this myself.
