Miscellaneous

Kris asked about doing a post on overwintering cannas/dahlias. Been there, done that, Kris. Try this one from last October.

And here is a miscellaneous tip that I just used on my own blog and thought perhaps it would be beneficial to others. Do you ever find yourself on a page other than the homepage of a blog and you can't find your way back to the beginning? This happens all the time when you search for something and it takes you to the blog post for your search.

Well, if you just go up to your URL address bar and highlight everything after the blogspot.com (click on it to make it big enough to read)

Here is a close up of the address bar and what to highlight.

Hit your "delete" key.

Hit enter.

Voila! You are back to the home page and you didn't have to scroll about trying to find the "home" link.

Now that you have read through all of that, forget it all!

Because Dianne has left a comment with a much easier way to do the same darn thing:
... if you just click the banner area (tried it on your page) you should get back to the most recent blog entry... Thanks, Dianne! I will be using that tip for sure!

Don't forget it entirely--If you are just on a regular web site, not a blog, my tip will work. :)

Look at these p*illows.

They are from a d*esigner whom I've seen on H*G*T*V. Guess how much they cost?

#1 - $225
#2 - $250

Where do these people get such an elevated opinion of self worth? Any person with just a minimal bit of sewing knowledge could make these!

  1. Also, if you just click the banner area (tried it on your page) you should get back to the most recent blog entry.
$225!!!! Yikes, that's high and they aren't that pretty either.

  2. Your pillows are much prettier! Good to know about the delete trick - and the banner area click - thanks to both you and Dianne!

Thanks for the info on dahlias/cannas. When I first started reading your blog, I thought I would go back and read your previous entries. I did do that with some, but lack of time etc intervened. I should have known you've been doing this so long, you've covered everything! :) Seriously, I am in awe of your ability to keep it fresh and fun - even in a year when you had no rain! You're an inspiration!

  3. oh, I have another question. How do you do a video? I have a video camera and know how to use that, but beyond that, I'm lost. Yours are so fun, I'd like to give it a try.

  4. Dianne,
Your tip is much easier!! So everyone just forget my tip. :) I just love to learn new things about this wonderful world of blogging. Thanks, Di!

    Kris,
You need to find a host for your video. I used YouTube. You have to go there and set up an account, then upload your video to YouTube. They will give you some code and you just copy and paste the code into your post. It's pretty easy once you do the first one. It sometimes does take a long time for YouTube to get it ready to post.

  5. I've always done it the way Dianne says, click on the banner....so that means I read all that part of your post for nothing????? hehe I so love teasing you! lol You know, every time I see stuff like those pillows and the asking price, I also always wonder why they think it's worth so much!!! I'm not much of a seamstress (I hem pants, that's about it lol) but before I'd pay those kind of prices, I'd certainly make my own!! xox

  6. Like Pea, I already knew about clicking the banner to move around blogs, but more often, Zoey, you point out things I don't know- your blog is both fun and informative.

$225 for a pillow?!? Good grief. Now that's something I don't really want to know!

  7. Well I'm not sure if everyone's banner is clickable, but if it isn't do what Zoey said. : )

  8. It's amazing the prices charged for the simplest of things. But, there's always someone willing to pay that amount and think they've acquired something unique.

I appreciate you taking the time and effort to leave a comment. I will try to answer any questions you have. Please note due to Blogger changing word verification so almost nobody can read it, I have had to change to no word verification and only allow registered users to comment.
