Calla Lily Bouquet

One of our hotel guests received this bouquet of flowers today.

I thought it was very unusual and interesting enough for a blog post. We don't often see florist bouquets around here with hanging amaranthus and callas. I don't even think I have ever seen green amaranthus before. I have grown the really long red stuff (this may be the same plant before it turns red?). I've been wanting to grow more of it just to use in bouquets because I think it adds so much interest.

Look how they wrapped this purple rope around the stalks. It doesn't really do much for me. I can't decide if it should be omitted or if it should go further down. Then again the more I look at it, maybe it's just right. :)

I don't even know what this yellow flower is. The green is something like money plant.

Anyway, I just think it's so interesting compared to a common florist bouquet.

  2. Wouldn't you just love to take it home-it's really an unusual display! I'd make note of the florist for your records. I'm pretty sure the yellow flower is some kind of orchid.

  3. Wow, that is indeed a very different bouquet compared to the usual ones! It's beautiful, though, and I say you should have brought it home and tell the guest it was never delivered!! hehe xox

  4. tam,
    Welcome and thanks for commenting!

Dianne, I know nothing about orchids, but I trust your flower knowledge.

I could almost duplicate this one with my own callas. I have money plant. I just need the amaranthus. It would have to be for a pretty special centerpiece for me to cut down my callas though.

Pea, you little devil, you! hee hee

  6. Lovely bouquet Zoey. The yellow flower is an orchid - commonly known here as a "Dancing Lady" because when you see them as a bunch in a slight breeze they look like they are dancing. I have seen wedding bouquets made up entirely of these and they are stunning.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know exactly what they are. How interesting to have wedding bouquet of them!

  8. The yellow orchids are oncidium orchids, and the foliage that looks like money plant is eucalyptus
