A paczki (pronounced "Poonch-key") is a Polish donut. Eating these donuts on Fat Tuesday is very common in my town because we have a large Polish population.
DH bought a few at the local bakery and he seemed to enjoy them. I have never been fond of paczki, so I just took a tiny little piece and gave him the rest of the donut.
I have been spending a hour or so each day sewing blocks for my new deck color scheme. I get bored making the exact same block, so I ventured away from the geometric main quilt and worked on few other patterns. I don't know what they will be yet--either pillows or smaller quilts for the backs of the two deck chairs.
Here's my little pile of completed blocks.
I feel pretty good about my progress so far.
I haven't been in a writing mood lately so this paltry little post will have to be it for tonight.

Making Miscellaneous Christmas Quilt Blocks

At the moment, I have no idea what will become of these quilt blocks I have
been making for the past couple of weeks. I guess they will remain in this
bin...

Never heard of those donuts...could it be because I do not have a drop of Polish in me??
ReplyDeleteThose are some pretty squares you have put together, Zoey..I love them and oh how they make me think of Spring!!
We sell Paczki at our store and I hear the commercial for them running all night but I've never tried them.
ReplyDeleteI love the block that looks like a windmill! Reminds me of the plastic ones on a stick that blow in the wind!
No Paczki-we have a lot of Italians here. I did see 'King cakes' in the grocery store though.
ReplyDeleteI love your variety of quilt squares-I was wondering if you would do some floral ones.
Love Paczki but they are no longer on my safe to eat list.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to seeing what you are making for the deck, love the colors and designs.
