that do NOT include the 1/4-inch seam.
It seems to me that when I purchase a book of patterns, all of that extra work should be done for me. I have been spending well over an hour on each pattern just cutting out the different sections and adding seam allowances.
Last night I had to do it again with a snowman pattern.
I cut out each individual piece, tape it to copy paper and add the 1/4".
Now I am finally able to run copies today so I can begin sewing tonight.
I must remember to check the patterns BEFORE I buy a book. If the author was too lazy to add the seam allowances, I will pass on that purchase.
Isn't this the cutest snowman block? It's the one I plan to make tonight.
Let the Basting Begin!

I am using my dining room table to baste this big one -- it's about 105 x
105 inches (king size).
It's been a while since I've finished one this big.

More power to you! The finished designs are so great.
ReplyDeleteHey, switched to wordpress-it's like the new blogger. Not to difficult to import blog and you get all the bells and whistles.
diadsie.wordpress.com.
Nice pattern, but I hate adding the extra, too. What are you going to do with this one?
ReplyDeleteDianne, I am too lazy to attempt a move right now. I am still waiting for Blogger to get it together.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I have a vague idea of making a winter quilt just large enough to plop down on the couch and cover up. I would use a number of different snowmen. Just a glimmer of an idea right now.
Cute snowman Zoey! It would be cute through the holidays and into January!
ReplyDelete:)
Blogger is really testing my patience again tonight...it's eaten so many of my comments already!! Grrrr! lol That sure is an adorable snowman block but what a shame you have to do so much extra work for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteThe snowman pattern is darling, something I'd love to piece together. Unfortunately I have no clue how to do this kind of work.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing a wonderful job with this piecing work Zoey. I can see you love a challenge :) The bird blocks are very nicely done and I love the way you used that tropical fabric in the owl. Your cardinal really is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that ice cream looks delicious and here it is lunch time! Too bad I don't have any of that flavor. Ah, on second thoughts......no, that's good! We've been cleaning up the leftover cookies and chocolates around here! :)
I just received a complimentary issue of Cuisine too....and thought of you when I saw the basket :)
