Whenever I think of something for my Valentine dinner party, I put it out to see how it will work. It's much better to find out what flops well before the night of the dinner!
I think Valentine's day is perfect to use the chocolate wine I received at Christmas. Since it's a red wine mixed with chocolate, these red wine glasses would be perfect to serve it. I set them out in a heart-shaped serving platter on the sled table that I filled with vintage valentines.
The table is only a few feet from the dining room, so I think it will work nicely.
I also put the vintage valentines all around two pictures that are on the dining room walls.
There is a large picture hanging on the wall on each side of the table, so as you sit eating your dinner you will see these every time you look up. I don't really like seeing the artwork in the center, so if I get really ambitious, I may cover the artwork with fabric or wrapping paper. At the moment I am not thinking I will get that ambitious. :)
I made a "hugs & kisses" bunting (that's the proper name for those heart-shaped words) that I thought I would use on the table with the chalkboard over it, but it does not work there. So I put it on top of the china cabinet in the dining room.
On the other side of the dining room, I have the curio cabinet that I showed you last week. I added the pink fabric and a boutonniere from our wedding almost a quarter century ago.
I can't think of a better decoration for the LOVE holiday. :)
At the moment I am pretty happy with everything. I am going to make a blackberry/raspberry mousse for dessert that I have never made before. Yes, I admit, I planned it to match my pink/purple table. I just hope it turns out!
Let the Basting Begin!

I am using my dining room table to baste this big one -- it's about 105 x
105 inches (king size).
It's been a while since I've finished one this big.

ReplyDeleteI have some extra blackberries in the freezer if you need to borrow some!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful, Zoey. I love that you are matching your dessert with your color theme! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI love the red wine glasses and I noticed the chocolate wine right away! I think everything is looking very festive.
ReplyDeleteWell it sure looks like you are all set-very pretty and clever. The wine glasses are really lovely!
ReplyDeleteZoey, I love it all! Such a cute idea to put vintage valentines underneath the glass in your sled, as well as around that framed picture. Your bunting is also adorable. I've never heard of chocolate wine, you'll have to let me know if it's any good. I'll have to see if we have it over here in our liquor stores. A matching dessert as well? You're my kinda gal:-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou do more holiday decorating than anyone I know. I think that's great. Trying to catch up a little. Still behind with all the work here but wanted to drop by.
