I got this box of my elephant ear bulbs last Friday, just as I was heading out for the weekend.
Judging by the size of the box, I thought, Wow, these must be some big bulbs!
I stuck it in the garage and left it until tonight.
I was surprised to find these long skinny boxes inside.
Usually the bulbs are packaged in plastic bags.
I was even more surprised when I pulled plants out of each box!
I am not sure how I feel about these. I wanted a huge black elephant ears plant. I expected to be getting a bulb as big as a giant onion. This puny little thing needs to grow like mad to get anywhere near what I had in mind. At the moment, I am thinking that $30 for this puny collection is too much. I've been had.
What do you think?
Making Miscellaneous Christmas Quilt Blocks

At the moment, I have no idea what will become of these quilt blocks I have
been making for the past couple of weeks. I guess they will remain in this
bin...

don't lose hope Zoey! We ordered them one year and they were exceedingly puny BUT they turned out to be spectacular!!! Truly.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that they turn out to be what you like Zoey. Lessons in life are not cheap are they?? smile
ReplyDeleteThey are just babies-think Miracle Gro! : )
ReplyDeleteYou will be surprised how fast they take off. They are easy to take cuttings from and over winter well for me in my MI basement.
ReplyDeleteI have taro stem elephant ears, which aren't super large but a good foot-sized leaves if you want. Just email me your address again and I'll send you some. The stems are edible, but I imagine you wouldn't want to eat them since you don't cook Vietnamese food. :P
ReplyDeleteI'd say plant them and see what happens. The plants themselves look gorgeous and healthy.
