I Seem to Have More Butterflies this Year & the Neighbors have a Bumper Crop of Veggies

Every time I walk near the butterfly bush, at least a dozen of them flutter upward.

There is always a humming bird moth or two as well.
I have seen humming birds, too. I just have not caught one on camera yet. While I am excited by all the flying pretties, DH is excited because he is about to pick his first tomato.
He has four plants and they are all doing well. I forgot what these little ones are called. That is the extent of our vegetable garden. :)  Fortunately my neighbor has a bumper crop of delicious cukes and has been keeping us supplied for the past three weeks.  Neighbor #2 came over yesterday and said they will be leaving for a week and could we please go over and help ourselves to their tomatoes and cukes as they don't want them to go to waste while they are away.  Of course we are happy to help.

  1. Ripe Tomatoes?
Mine are just SITTING there-unripe. And now these cool temps. So maddening.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  2. I am so envious of your butterflies. I've hardly had any and don't expect much next year as I just finished pulling out those beds and that was my coneflowers which of course they loved. How wonderful for you.

  3. Ooh Zoey I enjoyed all your photos..beautiful!
Enjoy all the fresh produce this weekend!

  4. Wow- I have hardly seen any butterflies this year at all. Maybe they are all at your place! We are getting some pumpkins but that is about it- xo Diana

  5. What a lovely sight you get to see everyday. We have butterflies, but not like you do.
I think those are Roma tomatoes-very meaty and grew for sauce.
We are at the end of our tomatoes. I guess we got maybe 30 pounds or so. I figure what we save growing them I applied to buying flowers. etc for the yard. I got a few cukes, a few dinners of green beans, one zucchini and two gourds.

  6. What great neighbors! I love your butterfly pics! My butterfly bush is blooming but looking a bit yellow and leggy! Not sure what is going on...yours looks beautiful!
