Whenever I find something I like, it changes.
I used to love Walmart's broccoli salad. I had some for dinner last night. This is what it looked like:
Here it is in March of '06, when I first posted extolling its virtues. It looks very different from the chopped up mess they sell today.
What happened to the full heads? Now it's mostly small chunks of stem. I used to like the contrasting textures of the stem slivers among the full heads. Now it has carrots in it and the one I had was very strongly flavored by the red onion. The golden raisins were quite sparse also.
They must be saving money. I guess I will have to start making my own.
Our local newspaper is asking for books for some charitable organization. After work today, I pulled a few from my book shelves to donate.
While looking I found a culinary food mystery
that I don't think I have read yet. I am in the mood for a good read. I just hope I don't start reading it and then remember that I have already done so. That would be a real bummer!
Making Miscellaneous Christmas Quilt Blocks

At the moment, I have no idea what will become of these quilt blocks I have
been making for the past couple of weeks. I guess they will remain in this
bin...

Zoey..as I looked at your pics of the broccoli salad I was thinking it was better to make your own..I too like the larger chunks of the broccoli heads and I definetly want to see the raisins!!
ReplyDeleteI have done the same..started to read a book and then find that I already have read it, although some books are worth a second read.
good for you donating books...it drives me crazy when I find a product I like then they change it or stop carrying it.....
ReplyDeleteHow funny, you mention that salad. My 26 yr old daughter called mea s she was dinner shopping last night, I told her to pick some of that up. Her reply was BF liked it, but she didn't really care for it.
ReplyDeleteAt my Mom's bday party they served that kind. the youngest grandson was so excited to find raisins in it!
A nice collection of reads..are you donating them?
ReplyDeleteDo you have the recipe for the salad in the first photo?
