I've been spending most of my free time the past week or so reading a diverse selection of books.
I enjoyed all three of these. You probably all know who the first two are. Book #3 is sort of a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a famous food critic.
I've also been perusing a few quilting books.
I've spent a little time working on the machine quilting of this quilt. I still have not found any loving feelings toward machine quilting. I must force myself to finish this one so I can move on to other projects.
See the book about tassel making? I am thinking of trying to make a few of those this winter.
I also spent a little time updating my Christmas Ornament spreadsheet. I started this in 1998 to keep track of all the Hallmark collectible Santa ornaments I was buying.
They are the most expensive ornies I have and I don't even use them any more! I got tired of using red because it clashed with my decor. When I replace my furniture, maybe I will use the red ornies again.
Having a spreadsheet like this is really nice. As you buy new items, you just add them to the bottom and it totals how much you have invested in Christmas decorations. It's also great for insurance purposes should the need ever arise. I would never be able to remember all of the ornaments I have.
Anyway this is a short synopsis of what I've done since my last post. Now I must jump in the shower and head to work.
Hopefully I will now be back to my almost-daily meanderings.
Hi Zoey!
ReplyDeleteYou've been really immersed in books, etc. Do you get them out of the library? I keep wanting to get an Obama book myself. There's a book sale in a few weeks, so I'll see if any show up there. I like your idea of a spread sheet. I should do that with my books someday, starting with cross stitch. When our house was burglarized back in 1995, QVC was nice enough to send me a list of my jewelry items which I matched up to what was taken. They helped me get more insurance money.
I hope you stop by and check out my Longwood Gardens photos. The better ones are in the slideshow link where I am editing light and color.
I hope to get my house back to order soon when the guys go back to school and work.
Tell me about it...I don't think I will EVER catch up!! lol This blogging and blog visiting can be a full time job!! Glad to see you posting again, though:-)
ReplyDeleteI was very interested in your idea of having that spreadsheet for your collectibles...it's something I should really look into doing because of my various collections that are worth quite a lot. xoxo
Machine quilting a large top like that on a sewing machine can be quite frustrating. Don't give up!
ReplyDeleteDianne,
ReplyDeleteYes, they are all library books. I think I brought 10 books home when I was on vacation.
Pea, yes, you should find a way to keep track of all your things. I know you have a lot of collector items. I was just trying to visit you, but I got kicked out again. Every now & then that happens. I also got kicked out of Dianne's Flicker side show. I will try to go back tomorrow to see both of you.
Anya, I just came from your blog! Thanks for the encouraging words. I wish I was a tenth as good as you are with machine quilting!
I see I'm not the only blogger that took a few days off!
ReplyDeleteWhen you get all your ornaments cataloged, will you come and do mine?
And watch your butter intake with that Paula book!
Patti
'Zoey is back'..I have been checking your blog often and was wondering where you were! But hey it's good to take some time off..
ReplyDeleteAnyway it's great to hear from you again and that all is well.
Patti, I think I may be the only other person in the world who likes butter as much as PD! The woman irritates me. I read the book to try to figure out how she rose to success like she did despite her vulgarness. Still have no idea! LOL.
ReplyDeleteBetty, Thank you. I just took a spontaneous break.
