I stayed inside all day. I spent about 4 hours making chicken pot pies for the freezer. Here they are before I topped them with homemade pie crust...this cold weather seems to have given me some energy for cooking. :)
These three individual serving pies just went in the oven for tonight's dinner (J thinks one is not enough, so I put two in the oven for him)
I also worked on changing my dining room for autumn. I finished sewing six witch dining room chair backs that I pieced last year. I went down to the basement and I found some wonderful items that I purchased after Halloween last year. Love that spider web table runner ... I don't even remember buying it!
I will finish the rest of the table later in the week. What I used to do in half day, now takes me a full week! :) I am planning to have a dinner party or two this year in early October.
We had a real light frost too Zoey but it didn't kill anything. I still have a lot of things blooming, and some things are done for the season but I leave it so the birds have the seeds. I did a lot of trimming and cleaning up this morning for 3 hours.
ReplyDeleteYour table setting looks very festive and I bet you have fun dinner parties.
HAPPY FALL
Earlene
Ours was light as well. Everything seems to be alive. I pulled a few plants in the garage as I knew it would be getting cold.
DeleteLight frost here too. Starting to bring the tenders in. Not happy. :-( Love the pot pies and festive table!
ReplyDeleteNot happy here, either! LOL. I thought I had at least a month of decent weather.
DeleteFrost?!?! way too early, we were camping this weekend and had 42, which is unheard of. Like they say it's going to be a COLD winter. However sister you look set with that delicious chicken pot pie!
ReplyDeleteCamping in 42 degree weather--you are brave, sistah!
DeleteLooks like you found a great way to pass a cold day. We got a very light frost--didn't damage the flowers or anything. I told hubby he NEEDS to get busy vacuuming out the vents, etc--it's time to fire up the furnace. After days and days of upper 40's/low 50's for the highs, this house is chilly!!
ReplyDeleteThe pot pie look delicious. I never think ahead to make a bunch of them at once. I could raid your freezer, no?
LOL!
I had to turn the furnace on last Friday...it was just a tad below 60 degrees....INSIDE...LOL...I like it cold, but that was a bit much. I set it at 62 degrees and it's been kicking on every morning since.
DeleteI always make more than one when I do the pot pies....Waaaay too much work for just two people if I only make one meal. :)
Delicious looking pot pies! And here you are decorating for atumn already..but then again it is that time!! We have turned on our furnace a couple of times already.
