I just visited a blog and started to read a post. There were ads all around the perimeter. As I started to read this was the screen:
EVEN THE POST WAS COVERED BY AN AD! I sent a comment stating that the number of ads was outrageous! Of course the comments were monitored, so mine will be promptly deleted. Just as I shall promptly delete that blog from my list of favorites.
No wonder blogs are fading away. I can count on one hand the number of blogs without ads. I have zero interest in blogs with advertising. Since they all seem to be adding advertising, I guess my days of visiting blogs is very limited.
That's too bad as I used to really enjoy them.
Let the Basting Begin!

I am using my dining room table to baste this big one -- it's about 105 x
105 inches (king size).
It's been a while since I've finished one this big.

My list has been whittled down over the years as well. I hate ads. It also makes me "doubt" the sincerity of the post/poster. Stick to your guns, Zoey. We need to send a clear message.
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt about their sincerity, Sue. They want to make money. :)
DeleteLOL., Zoey! I'm with you! I have quit visiting so many blogs. There is only one I visit now that has some advertising. It drives me nuts. I go to see what the person has to say not what some advertiser is trying to sell me. You can visit me anytime...lol...I am ad free. I get offers all the time to run ads or do promotional giveaways. That is just not my thing! NOT why I blog. Glad you spoke out but most won't comment for fear of reprisal. Have a great night- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI really do appreciate that about your blog, Diana!
DeleteGuess I've already whittled mine down, I don't read any with ads. Got snow? We went for 70 degrees yesterday to 34 this morning and 22 for tomorrow :( Snow is predicted this weekend, early for us! But the deer hunters will love it.
ReplyDeleteNo snow on the ground yet, though we had a flurry or two. I think it's coming soon. Our deer season starts Saturday, so the hunters here will love it, too.
DeleteHi Zoey, I don't mind ads on the sidebars; what I (strongly) dislike is when an ad pops up and covers the blog post. I have no problem with someone generating income from their blog, but I don't look at ones with the pop up ads as noted above.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, I would think the blogger would be upset that their post is covered by an ad. Guess they really don't care if anyone reads the post as long as their counter gets the hit tallied so the advertisers keep paying them.
DeleteI'm with you!!! I have turned down ads simply because that is not why I blog. I blog to connect with folks....times are changing...not sure how much longer I will hold on! Hope you are well friend! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteSame here, Nicole. It's so frustrating that such a wonderful way to connect with people around the globe has been ruined by greed.
DeleteI know exactly what you mean. Mine will always be ad free.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of bloggers are making a lot of money from all those ads. It appears they also have to post every single day to keep their "count" up. That would rule me out right away! There are not many of us old-style bloggers left but I hang on to the ones I like to visit.
