and the blooms are setting seed. One of these days I will go out and cut a few inches off the top. I want it shorter because I have some variegated hosta planted right in the phlox. I planted them last year to give a bit more summer interest. I also like to get rid of the tiny little seed heads because it gives a much cleaner appearance.
The snow-in-the-summer is just about peaking.
I still have quite a few iris. This is a good iris year. Some years I get little bloom. This year I don't see any yellow iris. I used to have quite a few yellow. I don't know if they have croaked or if they are just taking a rest this year. I move them so often, that I never remember where they were planted.
I didn't do any work in the gardens this weeked (too busy with the deck). I noticed lots of work that needs to be done while I was out taking these pics at 6:00 a.m.
I agree, it was a good iris year and I miss mine already. I read where you have to dig them up every 3 years or they stop blooming. Some of mine are 2 yrs old and some are 1 yr old. Seems like a lot of work, but if they are all in one area, like mine, guess it's not.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for more summer blooms!
Your gardens look very nice. My irisis didn't do so good this year I think I need to seperate them. Your snow-in-the-summer looks cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you sooo much Zoey for letting me know about my comment problem!! I fixed it!!!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly wait for your peonies to start blooming!!!
Love that garden of yours!
Love the iris - gorgeous! I just figured out where I can use some creeping phlox - I'm so excited because I love yours. I think it makes a cool border even when it's done blooming. The snow in summer is very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteI need to trim the bath's pinks, much neater. Love the varigated hosta to add later interest.
