enjoy the nectar from the butterfly bush.
But I still have not captured a hummingbird picture. I rarely see the hummers this year.
Last night I did see one briefly at the buddleia.
I pulled up a chair and settled in with my magazine and camera waiting for her.
She never returned.
So now I am officially stalking hummers.
While reading 'Country Gardens', I came across this interesting article
about flower arranger's camp. They spend a weekend at this farm in Virginia learning to make flower arrangements.
How unique!
It reminded me very much of the quilter's camp in Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek quilters novels. I just finished reading the 9th and last in that series on Saturday.
I'm sure I can smell the honey sweet perfume from those buddleias from here, Zoey. The butterfly completes the picture beautifully.
ReplyDeleteHi Alice,
ReplyDeleteDo you grow this in Australia?
By the way, I love your new profile pic.
What terrific shots you got of the bee and butterflies...beautiful!! How very neat about the flower arranger's camp...you could go show them a thing or two!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have less butterflies, but scores of dragonflies and hummingbirds. Your garden looks lovely as always. I notice you are wearing your Crocs!
ReplyDeleteBetter to stalk hummers than drive them, I always say!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you were reading Humminggirl magazine you'd have better luck attracting that elusive little bird....
Your photos are lovely.
Pea, you have such confidence in me! LOL.
ReplyDeleteSue, I wear my Crocs all the time at home. I just LOOOOVVVEEEE them. They are better than slippers for comfort. I have not, however, worn them in public...just can't bring myself to do that.
Melissa,
I just saw three hummers at one time! Wooo hooo, they have found the butterfly bush! Now I just need to have the camera ready....
Aren't God's creatures amazing!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Zoey.
Pat
Your pictures are beautiful and I love capturing butterflies on film...well actually I mean digital. I stalk butterflies, but I haven't seen any hummers around our house this year.
ReplyDeleteI see more hummingbirds than butterflies. I wish I could see butterflies like those in my garden. I don't really plant for butterflies and hummingbirds, though, so any I get are kind of a bonus.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos!
Great shots. I love the way your path turned out. Now you can take a basket and take lots of snips for arrangements.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy with all the butterflies I've seen in the last few weeks. I've seen a few hummers too.
