I've been Striking OUT with Purchases this Week

First there was the mattress pad fiasco.

Next I received an online clothing order. I loved these jackets, so I bought two different bright colors. Now that I have them, I am not liking the fabric. It is too soft and wrinkles like crazy. What a nightmare when they come out of the dryer. Maybe I should try starch. I never use starch, but perhaps this is what it's made for.

I was going to wear this jacket today.
I put it on and hated it. There is too much fabric in the lower section. I don't need all that bulk in the hip area! I guess I will cut off about a foot of fabric. I think I will like it much better after I do that.

Remember that Happy Birthday table runner I have been working on for the past week or so? Well, it bit the dust. I already posted about it on my quilting blog, so I won't redo it all on this one, but if you want to read about it, just click here.

I am trying to finish a book that I started about 3 weeks ago. It's SCARLET FEATHER by Maeve Binchy. It has nearly 600 pages. I am about half way through it. I know the two caterers are going to fall for each other, but when????? Hopefully I can find some time this week to finish it.

I got off work early yesterday and spent a little time changing my dining table set up. You can see it on my tablescape blog. It's hot pink, cobalt blue and turquoise. I think it is my favorite summer table this year.

  1. Maeve Binchy is always good reading. Scarlet Feather is one of her better ones.

  2. Hi Zoey,
I haven't read Scarlet Feather yet, but I do love her books. I read mostly at night, and I usually fall asleep after a few pages. That one would take me forever!
    Loved your pretty summer tablescape!

  3. I'm sorry about the clothing and the table runner. I'm not sure if the jackets are rayon, but I avoid that like the plague.
As for your table runner-you are too hard on yourself. Maybe it was just the binding being too bulky? Could you have cut it down into blocks-like just the little packages?
I have read Mauve Binchy in the past and she's good. Those long books make me itchy too. I am reading a 300 page book and it's taking me forever.
    And your tablescape is fabulous!

  5. Hi Karen, I read that Scarlet Feather is her last novel. So far I have had no time to read this week. I will save it for a day trip on Sat. I love to read while DH drives.

Susie, reading puts me to sleep at night, too. I have to read during the day when I am wide awake.

Dianne, the jackets are linen & cotton. The problem on the runner was trying to quilt it on the machine without a walking foot...too many puckers and the whole thing ended up not being square...it was a mess. Thanks on the tablescape.

Betty, Thank you. Today it really feels like fall here. Cold and rainy...Gustav remnants....we need the rain, so I am happy.
