Does Anyone Have White Vinyl-Covered Appliances?

That get tiny little nicks like this?

It seems the freezer-on-the-bottom models are prone to these tiny nicks because (in 15 years) I never had one nick on my old freezer-on-top model.

Here's how I get rid of them...
I use just a little dab of white-out.
It works perfectly.

I was reading one of Dianne's posts where she used whiteout to antique a picture frame (very, very clever, I thought). Does anyone else use whiteout for anything other than to cover mistakes on paper?

  1. I have to have white out around as I tend to smear things being a left-handed person who turns her wrist when writing.☺
Did you know that Mike Nesmith's (from 'The Monkees' fame) mom invented it?
I think touching up your appliances is a good idea too.
Bri was worried I was sniffing it too much when painting with it as it contains bad chemicals, but it didn't bother me at all. It's been around long enough that the chemicals may not be like they were years ago.

  2. Oh thank you for this tip! We inherited a white fridge when we bought our house and I've been trying to figure out how to cover up the nicks. I'll have to get my whiteout going!

  3. Oh Zoey, you are such a perfectionist that it's scaring me.
If you ever get to Austin we're meeting in a restaurant so you won't see my battered appliances ;)

  4. Dianne, It seems I heard that about the Monkee's mom, but had forgotten it. Maybe I read it on your blog. Did you write about it at one time?

Tracy, I am so glad this tip helped someone!

Annie, I only had the frig a few months when I noticed the first nick. I ran right over there with a cloth hoping it was only dirt. I was bothered by that nick for weeks until I thought of the white out. LOL. I am not really a perfectionist. If only you could see the room I am sitting in now--junk all over the place!

  5. Zoey, you will never convince me that you have junk all over the place! You perfectionist, you. But a clever one!
