Are you a Triskaidekaphobic?

Then you better not get out of bed today.

I love that word-- triskaidekaphobia.

I learned it years ago and can even say and spell it properly. I rarely have the opportunity to use this word so I was quite giddy to realize that today is Friday, the 13th of April.

What is triskaidekaphobia?

So glad you asked.
It is fear of the number 13.

It is not fear of Friday, the 13th. That would be or friggatriskaidekaphobia or paraskavedekatriaphobia. Don't ask me to pronounce that last one!

Just a little Friday trivia for you.

Today is also special in that it would have been my grandma's 92nd birthday. We are all thinking of you, Grandma...rest in peace.

  1. It's a good thing I don't have that particular phobia as my anniversary is September 13th and it comes around on a Friday every so often!

There is still an A&W Root Beer drive in in Louisville. Passed by it just last week.

  2. Giddy, My anniversary is May 13, sometimes it's a Friday the 13th, other years (like this one) it's on Mother's Day.

There is still an A&W in Standish, MI, too. I've stopped on occassion just for the memories--although they don't have the car hops any more.

  4. Pea, I just hate it when I get my mouth all watering for something that I know I have, but when I get to the cupboard it's gone! It will be a nice little treat for you this weekend.

  5. I didn't even think about it being Friday, the 13th yesterday! Let me think how my luck was.. pretty good! Maybe you have to be worried about it for it to go bad.

Love your A & W shot down below. I used to go to one in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, when I was going to school. Yes, I remember Black Cows!

  6. Zoey and Giddy, I also chose to be married on the 13th, so it's a lucky day in my opinion!

But Pea didn't have a choice, did she?

  7. Hi Zoey,
Just went back and saw your picture of you working for A&W. We still have them too, but no more car hops.
We have Sonic and they rollerskate out with your order. Our grandsons love that place, but A&W's rootbeer is hard to beat!
    :)
