Santa Clause Has Come to Town
Thousands of wide-eyed spectators lined our downtown streets last Friday evening as the jolly old guy himself made his official appearance to northeast Michigan.
Unfortunately I did not go.
From all news accounts, I missed a pretty decent parade. For years, our Christmas parade has always been held the Friday after Thanksgiving during the daytime. I’ve never been able to attend as I've always worked that day. Now the parade is at night and is receiving enthusiastic reviews, but I’ve grown accustomed to not attending. Though I mentioned going to DH, when the time came, we both decided to sit it out.
Maybe next year.
Did you attend a Christmas parade this year?
We use to go when our son was small. I think parades are mostly for the kids. I hope to go to one with grandchildren someday.
ReplyDeleteZoey I not only have gone to a Christmas parade but until last year I was in the parade I was a 4H leader of the livestock club and we always had a float in the Christmas parade we had so much fun.
ReplyDeleteNext year you should go.
Pat
Our local parades are this week-end, and they are predicting snow; so I doubt we will go. We don't get snow often, here, but when we do ppl freak out, and drive like 'nuts'.
ReplyDeleteDianne, If I have to wait for grandchildren, I may never go to another parade. :)
ReplyDeletePat, you win the blue ribbon for parade attendance! Do you still have livestock?
Sandra, I think we are getting snow, too. I have plans to get away for the weekend, but the snow may change that. Traveling north is not wise in MIchigan when it snows.
Yay a blue ribbon..Yes we have beef cattle. My husband would part with me before he would the cows.:)

LOL, Pat.
ReplyDeleteHave you been practicing your quilt piecing?
We have no christmas parade in Germany!

Our local Santa Claus Parade was held a couple of weeks ago and they've been holding it at night for the last 4 years...people seem to prefer it and it sure brightens a dull night to see all the Christmas lights on the floats:-)
