46 Yards of Fabric

I have bought 46 yards of fabric in less than 7 days.
And this book.

I went to JoAnne's Saturday and just could not resist the low prices. It was another of those 50% off the already marked down stuff PLUS an extra 10% off your entire purchase. I was paying .90 to $1.35 per yard. The $1.35 stuff was originally priced at $9/yard.

Who could resist such prices? It was almost like they were giving it away.

I am so excited with this book of 101 paper-pieced log cabin blocks. There are some wonky-looking examples. I've made enough traditional logs. I can't wait to try a few of these. I better get another quilt started so I can use up some of this fabric stash!

On these cold days it's so nice to work on quilting my Stary Log Cabin with the paper pieced border. I sit in front of television all wrapped in the cozy warmth of the big old blanket.

I am also deeply into this book, The Three Miss Margarets, by Louise Schaffer.
I started reading it yesterday and was not disappointed. Remember I read the sequel to this book two weeks ago? It would have been best to read this one first, but either way they are both an enjoyable read.

  1. You are so talented! You make quilts and cook and garden and you are well-read! I am very impressed with you Zoey!
Unless quilts can be stapled, I could never make one! I have only been reading your blog since August and did not know the quilts you show are ones you have made!! I think it's incredible!

  4. The fabrics are great. I like the colors you used in your quilt. I have not done a log cabin in a very long time and I may have to do one again.

  5. Sissy, you're making me blush.... :)

Sigrun, I am planning to have a lot of fun playing with it all.

Pea, I didn't leave too much there. LOL. I am sure you could learn to quilt. I just taught myself by reading about it.

Ama, Do you take a lot of classes? I bet that would be fun.

Dubiquilts, Thank you. I seem to gravitate to the log cabins. I guess I just like the old traditional patterns.

  8. Hi Zoey,
Just catching up on posts after being gone a few days! Your squash soup sounds good. I was lazy and bought some at Trader Joes last week (delish)This recipe looks easy enough, so I may try it! Your quilt fabric is beautiful. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

  10. Great bargains Zoey. You sure are enthusiastic. Can't wait to see what you'll do with it all.
Your squash soup sound delish. My hubby won't eat soup of any kind. Imagine that! I'd love it though. Squash is one of my favorite things and hubby loves it as a vege too...just not soup. I froze 3 quarts of buttercup (my personal favorite) last night with hubby's help. He cuts, I bake, scoop, and freeze. It's great to have the help.

  11. What a beautiful quilt! Nice warm quilts are the best on cold days. My grandma quilted for all of us and she has been gone for so long. She made each of our kids one when they were born, with their names on them. When my son had our first grandson, I gave his quilt to him for the baby.

  12. Well, look at you, Zoey, all cozy and comfy under that luscious quilt! At least you're sitting down for a change. My craft gene disappeared years ago but I sure like to see other people engaging in projects!

  13. Oh to be a patchworker at those prices. Is $9 what you would normally pay for the top patchwork fabric? That's $11.75 Australian - dirt cheap. Most of our patchwork fabrics sell for around $24 per metre ($18US). Yes, I realise that a metre is a little more than a yard but just the same, the price difference is enormous.

I hope you have lots of winter fun with new fabrics.
