No papier mache, just paint. It's a special "snow" paint that is thick. The really interesting thing is the hat--it is made from a styrofoam cup! You just put the cup in the oven and let it melt, then cool, then paint. No two turn out alike.
I have to say I would go nuts making a bunch of those. The tedium would far outweigh any pleasure it gave me. Believe it or not, I would rather make improvements to my website. Tinkering with software and learning new code--now that's fun! LOL To each his own, right? One reason I find your blog so fascinating to read in the winter is because it opens my eyes to a different world, sort of like armchair traveling. Baking I can relate to, but people actually set their table for fun? Well, I never!
Thanks, everyone. Kathy, I think a lot of people would agree with you about setting tables. I guess since I can't paint or draw, it is my way of expressing a bit of creativity...the dining table is my canvas...LOL. Kerry, it is my way of relaxing...while others like to sit in front of a television in their spare time, I just make things.
I never thought I was a creative person until I realized it mattered to me what plant went where in my garden. It's only been in the last couple of years that I have had the opportunity to decorate certain parts of my home, and every time, the first thing I do is panic. But after I'm done hyperventilating, I realize I do have aesthetic opinions about things, even if they don't line up with what's in the latest magazines.
I hope you realize that I wasn't trying to belittle your table setting. I can see how it gives you pleasure. I can even see how, under different circumstances, I would enjoy it myself. I was trying to communicate that reading your blog is sort of like watching Lives of the Rich and Famous for me. Not that you're rich and famous, but that your blog is a peek into a different way of living than what I experience.
I appreciate you taking the time and effort to leave a comment. I will try to answer any questions you have. Please note due to Blogger changing word verification so almost nobody can read it, I have had to change to no word verification and only allow registered users to comment.
These are adorable! I thought snowmen too, but I wasn't quite sure what you were going to do to make them snowy. I guess some batting would work too.
ReplyDeleteHe does look cute too. What is the white stuff, is it papier mache?
ReplyDeleteOhh aren't you clever. What a good idea, and so cute.

Thank you for sharing it, and happy blogiversary!
Thank you, Kathy. I did not take it as belitting at all.
