I have a few coneflowers beginning to bloom. Can you see all the black-eyed Susan buds about to burst all around them? I should be in a sea of gold in about a week. I did not do much in the garden this weekend. On Saturday I worked a few hours in the morning, but today I did nothing but go out and take this picture. It rained all morning and is one of those "no energy" days, so I have been inside watching TLC, FOX News, a little of HGTV and net surfing.

  1. I love coneflowers. I bought some seed for white ones recently. Not sure if I should start them now or wait and winter sow them. We are under a heat advisory here till Wednesday so I was out for about an hour this morning and about 20 minutes this evening.

  2. I have a few Black-eyed Susans and would have more if someone would stop cutting them down.
    How big is your yard?
We have 1.4 acres and only use a small portion on one end of the 'rectangle'.

  3. My yard is a lot smaller than yours, Dianne. I have two lots. They are each 100' x 150', so guess that is 200 x 150'.

Kerry, I like the white ones, too. So far I don't have any. Have you seen the new orange ones? I like those and will have to get some when they appear on the market here.

  4. The orange ones are cool but very expensive. Hopefully they will come down in price.

  5. I think the way you have your yard landscaped makes it look huge! You sure fooled me.

  6. Zoey...I just bought some blackeyed susans for my small front garden and was wondering if I need to dead head the ones that have died. Will that promote more blooms if I take my scissors and get rid of those. I love your gardens and have started my own blog on this site to show everyone what I'm up to with mine. I don't have a steady place to live as we're military, but the different places I have different gardens. I just started the blog, but have many pictures to share. Take care.

  7. Yes, Taracotta, it will help the blooms if you deadhead. Blackeyed Susans should bloom for a long time. With deadheading mine will bloom almost until frost.
