I have been into the white/gold theme lately myself.

Dianne, Last year I used hydrangeas (silk) and gold grapes on the hotel lobby tree. You are right that they work beautifully because they are large and take up much space.

I have done fruit themes, denim theme, poiensiettas, -- you name it and I have probably done it. One year I even used tons of painted weeds--I would leave work, pass a field of weeds and stop the car and run out (in my heels) and cut down weeds,& take them home & paint them. (I was way more energetic back then -- lol). I have even used crushed brown paper bags for filler. I am BIG on fillers for Christmas trees! Any ideas you or anyone has are appreciated, so bring them on!Diana LaMarrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-1125194581876498512005-08-27T22:03:00.000-04:002005-08-27T22:03:00.000-04:00Great trees. I can give you ideas of what I've seen at Longwood and they tend to lean toward the natural look like you do. I've seen gourds and seed pods, seashells, a peacock theme, grapes and vines, well you get the picture. I'd have to look at my photo cd disk for other trees I've seen. And I have tons of Christmas craft books too. Don't rule out hydrangeas if you have access to any. They fill in a ton of space.
Recycling ideas is good too.Diannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00335147609261707774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-1125101774211725462005-08-26T20:16:00.000-04:002005-08-26T20:16:00.000-04:00Thank you, Dianne. I have been doing the trees at the hotel for the past 19 years. It was one of those "do it one year and your stuck for life" jobs. I used to love doing them all, but the past five years or so I have been getting tired of it and not feeling so creative. I keep trying to pass the job on to someone else, but no luck yet.Diana LaMarrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11324428666401187803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6735463.post-1125098635617083642005-08-26T19:23:00.000-04:002005-08-26T19:23:00.000-04:00Absolutely gorgeous!
